Much of the information shown on your user profile page is actually from your Account Settings, but your profile page is what advertises you as an author and can function like a free website, if you don't already have one. If you haven't already logged in, click Log In (top of every page) and do that. If you are already logged in, click your name and click Profile from the drop-down menu. This shows you what your current profile page looks like. This is what is shown to other users if they click on your name from a message, reply or comment. Unless your profile page is private and then only your Display Name is shown from the Account Settings page. Like most communities, it is nice to be able to put a face to a user that has written, replied or commented on the site, especially when we see each other in-person or via zoom at monthly meetings. It just builds a better, stronger community. From your profile page, clicking Edit Profile actually goes to the Account Settings page, which is where you can customize all the standard information that is shown on your public profile. To customize the rest of the content on this page, simply click on the item you want to change. Profile Picture and Header Much like most every social media site there is, you can click the camera icon that appears over your profile picture to upload a picture of yourself. You can also click the camera icon in the top-left corner to upload a custom header image for your profile. Image uploads are limited to 1MB in size. Please keep images respectable as it does reflect on the community and we don't want to have to step in and start babysitting people. Next you can click on the text area that says "Share something about yourself..." and a pop-up will display that allows you to type in whatever information you want on your profile page. Since we are a writers' guild, you could use this section for your author bio.

Once you have created your account on the website, simply Log In (located at the top of every page). Once you are logged in, your Display Name will appear at the top of every page, click on your name and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on My Account and you can edit your account settings, which is all the information and links that are shown along with your user profile if you choose to make your profile public. Display Name is what is shown to other users when you create or reply to messages. For instance if you wite with a pen name, you could use that as your Display Name, otherwise we recommend using your first and last name. Title is a basic text field, think of it as sort of a tagline. First name and Last name is for your name, we highly recommend using your real name as that is what we cross-reference to verify and authenticate guild member accounts. Email is for your email address and allows you to change your login email address. City, State is if you want to share where you are from, it is nice to see where other members are from. Web Site is where you can link in your personal website, or if you don't have one you could link to your Author Profile at a book retailer such as Amazon. Next you can copy & paste your links for various social media platforms. If you use another social media platform that is not listed, please message us and we can look at adding a field for it. Currently we support Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube. At the bottom of the page you can edit your Community Page URL. You really shouldn't have to modify this, but you could if you change your name or decide to use a pen name. Profile Visibility is where you can change your profile from Private to Public. If you profile is set to Private, only your Display Name is shown to other users when you write, reply or comment. Blocked Members allows you to manage members you may have blocked for one reason or another. This is an online community and we hope everyone is respectful and civil, but situations can happen.
