How Can I Volunteer?

The Diamond Valley Writers' Guild is a 501(c) non-profit organization that relies exclusively on volunteers for all aspects of administering, maintaining and growing the guild.

In addition to our elected volunteer positions for the Board of Directors, there's a number of other volunteer opportunities within the guild.

We are successful because of our volunteers and ALWAYS need more volunteers!

Volunteer today by emailing DVWritersGuild@gmail.com

Webmaster

Although a non-elected volunteer position, this is one of the most critical positions that requires the most time. In addition to maintaining the domain services, they are constantly growing and enhancing the DVWG website, the mobile app site and the Store site. This position also requires attending board meetings and speaking to members during the general meetings. This position is in frequent communication with the Board of Directors. Candidates must have web design experience and be familiar with the Wix platform. The Straitjackets site is now also on Wix, but requires no intervention.

Social Media Managers (SMMs)

Social media is one of the greatest promotion tools used by the guild. Volunteers are welcome to apply to manage any, or all of the social media accounts. Currently the guild utilizes Facebook, YouTube and Twitter/X.

Shout Outs

This person sends out reminder notices for the monthly Shout Out and then collects information from members and communicates back and forth if information is missing. They are then responsible for assembling the information collected and sending it out to the mailing list at the end of each month.

Hybrid Tech Crew

This crew is always looking for volunteers. It takes effort to setup and connect the microphones and video cameras to the computer and sound system, which is what makes the hybrid meetings so successful. Everyone is welcome to volunteer, no experience is necessary. Simply show up by 9am on the morning of a general meeting.

Facilitators

The guild hosts TWO general meetings that allow the membership to present their works to those in attendance and those who watch the replay of the meeting on the YouTube channel. Both the Poetry and Prose meetings require volunteers to communicate with members prior to the meeting, then organize a presentation order and finally facilitate the meeting itself.

Writing Groups

One of the benefits of membership in a like-minded writing community such as the guild is that writing groups can be formed. Whether it's the annual Novel Writing Month, a Kid Lit Group or whatever. If you want to facilitate a writing group, just run it by the Board at a board meeting.
