We, the writers and authors of the San Jacinto Valley have long dreamed of forming a writing community in our local area. Now, that dream is nearer fruition, because we have just found a bricks-and-mortar home.
The Hemet Library recently offered the use of their Community Room on the fourth Saturday of every month beginning next January, 2016. This monumental announcement clears the way for us to finish organizing and get to the fun part: planning our first meeting!
We envision a community of writers coming together from all over the Inland Empire and points beyond. We’ll share the highs and lows of the writing life with each other. We’ll find experts to speak to our group, and we’ll share our own knowledge. We’ll set aside time to network and visit, and if one of us lands a book signing or some other event, we’ll support you. As we grow and can offer more services, we dream of critique groups and workshops and conferences.
Our inaugural meeting will be held at the Hemet Public Library (300 E. Latham Avenue, Hemet, CA 92543) on Saturday, January 23, 2016, from 9 – 11 a.m. It’s free and open to the public. As plans develop, we’ll update this site. If you are interested in receiving email updates, or would like to be considered as a future speaker, please send a note to DVWritersGuild@Gmail.com, or leave a message at (951) 282-7735.

Isn’t it though? 2016 is going to be fantastic. PS I loved your logline for the next novel, about the schoolteacher. I’d like to use it in an upcoming post about the importance of developing a logline BEFORE starting the work. Okay with you, Jim?
